Power-to-x and hydrogen opportunities in Denmark

Working towards a zero emissions world, discover power-to-x technology and the hydrogen business opportunities in Denmark. The Danish government has adopted a Climate Act requiring a 70% reduction of CO2 emissions by 2030 and Power-to-X (PtX) plays a crucial part to achieve this.

Denmark is committed to reaching very ambitious climate action goals as part of its green transition: to reduce overall carbon emissions by 70% already by 2030 (from the 1990 levels) and to run 100% on renewable energy with 80% coming from wind power.

Already a global leader in wind technology, energy storage is a key challenge to reach our targets. Denmark is therefore committed to developing power-to-x technology and in particular hydrogen.

Why Denmark?

  • Stable and predictable energy policies

climate law adopted by 172 of 179 members of the Danish parliament

  • Climate action plan

    detailing concrete measures: Spring 2020

  • Annual follow-up

by the Danish Council on Climate Change to monitor if sufficient progress is made

With vast and rapidly increasing amounts of renewables in the Danish grid and goals of reaching 100% renewables by 2050, Denmark is well positioned to realise PTX projects.
